Two Years, Thousands of Pizzas

As Spring Break winds down, I had some time to reflect on the last couple of years. We've just celebrated our two years of owning our little #pizzaheaven . Some days, I still can't believe we live here. And now we're running two restaurants in our favorite little town and one in a different country. It's crazy to think that I was watching traffic go by all day on a major highway only two years ago. That feels like a different life and certainly a different human.
I've learned a lot about life by working in these restaurants but that little pizza place is so incredibly special. It's brought so much joy into our lives that it's hard to describe. I love the noises of people laughing, the LDP playlist blasting, the smell of chicken wings frying, watching the pizzas being cut, and people taking the time to slow down and chat with the person sitting next to them at our communal seating. These experiences make everything worth it.
I've definitely learned hard lessons on what it takes to run a restaurant at a high level. We've had our share of rough nights but I'm a big believer in failing forward. My husband has taught me so much about restaurants and operations that it's hard to believe I run a restaurant without him by my side some nights.
The best part of pizza? The people. Those four walls hold so many special memories with people who truly feel like family now. I've met old timers, visitors of Big Bend, people who have found us off of social media, friends of friends, and our town locals. I love the time I get to spend with our people.
And, to those I haven't even met yet - I'm excited.
The last two years have been life-changing. I'm so grateful for this opportunity. And damn, I'm so grateful for good pizza!
Cheers!
