If you follow me on social media, you know we just returned from our summer trip to Yellowstone National Park. (If you don't follow me - mundy_out_west) Our theme for this trip was "epic". And boy, did it live up to being one of the most epic trips we've ever taken.
When Andy and I were planning this trip, we originally booked plane tickets to fly from El Paso to Denver. If you're new here, we live in a remote small border town in Far West Texas. Our nearest airport is hours away. But, in our "epic" planning, we decided to drive so we could tent camp for a couple of nights in the park. Let me preface, I'm not a tent camper and I've never been in "bear country" but I'm so glad we did it. The drive was over twenty-two hours long but it was so fun to see different towns in New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.
I will suggest after spending five days in Yellowstone, to book your nights in the park at either the lodges or campgrounds. It's so much easier than traveling outside of the park each day as the popular entrances are packed coming in and going out. We tried to map out each day by the area of the park which worked for the most part but we did end up going back and forth a couple of days. More on that later.
We ended up staying in the Madison campground for the first two nights, Old Faithful Lodge, and Canyon Lodge during our trip. On our fourth night, we decided to stay outside of the park in Silvergate, Montana because we loved the little town so much. We were also waiting on deliveries at home so we needed to connect to Wi-Fi as service is nonexistent in the park. This night was a pretty last-minute decision but we enjoyed it.
I will break down each day for anyone interested in learning about what we did, where we stayed, and all the incredible sights we enjoyed in Yellowstone. Stay tuned! I'll be breaking it all down this week.
